Software Project Management Fundamentals

Audience

The course is intended for acting project managers, team leaders and senior software developers – people doing project management related activities – planning, estimating the effort and the budget, task distribution and tracking, requirements analysis, communication with the customer. It introduces students to the general principles of software project management and the related duties and tasks. These principles are not specific to a particular company, project or project management software.

The course is also appropriate for middle-level managers who are often seen in the role of the “project sponsor” or the “resource manager” and also for people responsible for contracting and controlling the execution of software projects from the customer’s side.

Prerequisites

There are no explicit prerequisites to the participants but basic familiarity with the software development process and with the project management principles are helpful.

The course is lead in Bulgarian and is intended for Bulgarian participants. It can be lead in English for foreign participants upon customer request

Duration and Agenda

The course takes one full day and is scheduled in four lectures lead by a lecturer and ending with a Q & A session. During the course, along with the presented theory, the participants will have to solve practical cases taken from the real-life projects.

There will be lunch and coffee breaks between the lectures.

Certificate

At the course completion the participants receive a certificate for having a formal training on project management for 5 contact hours, which equal to 5 PDUs before the PMI for obtaining or renewing a PMP certificate.

Lecturer

The course is lead by Mihail Mihaylov (Mike Ramm) – a project manager with an extensive practical experience, well-known speaker among the Bulgarian IT society, and CEO of RammSoft.
